There’s something powerful about caring for the place you call home, and at Caspian Residences, that connection begins right outside your door. Along Brooklyn Basin’s waterfront, daily life is shaped by the rhythm of the Oakland Estuary, where morning runs, sunset strolls, and weekend paddles create a deep appreciation for this unique shoreline. Giving back to this environment isn’t just meaningful, it’s a natural extension of living here. Community-driven events offer the perfect opportunity to meet neighbors, build connections, and take pride in preserving the spaces you enjoy every day.

Ahead of Earth Day, Brooklyn Basin residents are invited to be part of something bigger. Join I Heart Oakland Alameda Estuary for the annual cleanup on Saturday, April 11, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Volunteers will gather at Jack London Aquatic Center and nearby Estuary Park to remove trash and marine debris, helping protect local wildlife habitats and improve water quality. With low tide at 2:00 PM, participants will have optimal shoreline access—making it one of the most impactful times to lend a hand.

Whether you prefer to explore by land or water, there are plenty of ways to participate. Walk the shoreline, or paddle out by kayak, canoe, or stand-up paddleboard alongside fellow volunteers who share a passion for the estuary. This event is led by local Mary Spicer and supported by local partners including California Canoe & Kayak, East Bay Rowing Club, and NOAA Marine Debris Program, reinforcing a collective commitment to environmental stewardship across the waterfront community.

From Caspian Residences, Jack London Aquatic Center is just minutes away, an easy walk or quick ride connecting you directly to the center of action on the Oakland and Alameda waterways.
